This contemporary dance performance was choreographed and performed by me, during a time when I was adapting to life in Wales after fleeing the war in my home country, Ukraine.
The work became a way to process and express my emotions — a space where movement allowed me to navigate uncertainty, loss, and transformation. At that stage in my life, this piece was deeply important. It helped me make sense of a new reality and reconnect with myself through the body.
I was accompanied by harpist Helen Wyn-Pari, whose live music added another emotional layer to the performance, creating a sensitive and immersive atmosphere.
The performance was presented as part of Conwy Open Doors Extra 2023 at Conwy Culture Centre, alongside an exhibition of related images by Anthony Harrison. His work closely reflected themes of displacement and transition, which resonated strongly with my own experience.
